Job Title: Project Accountant FLSA: Exempt Reports to: Director of Finance Responsibilities: - The project accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects as it relates to subcontractor's payments, AP processing, client invoicing and budgeting.
- Investigating variances and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.
- Tactful in communicating with clients when discussing and or resolving accounting-related issues
- Maintain detailed knowledge of cost related to projects including revenue, profit and cash flow
- Responsible for hands-on cost accounting for multiple projects to include client invoicing, subcontractor AP processing and project budget maintenance
- Review contracts or contract material to understand the financial attributes of the project including, but not limited to the contract value, billing schedule, cost estimate and related details
- Provide weekly AR and Project Closeout updates to supervisor
- Remain involved with Project Manager to ensure direction and support
- Ensure existing Project Accounting and all Company Policies and Procedures are effectively communicated and enforced
- Actively monitor projects from a risk management perspective and elevate as needed
- Other ad hoc as needed
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Ability to work productively with multiple project managers and assistant project managers
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook) CMiC, a plus,
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
- 2-5 years Construction project related experience desired
Other - Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
