School Security Officer

Position Overview

The School Security Officer, under the direction of the Vice-Principal / Dean of Students, provides security for Bishop Kelley High School employees, guests, parents, students, buildings and property through patrol of school buildings and building perimeters, including parking lots, to prevent unauthorized visitors or property damage and to provide for general building security, does related work as required.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic values and the promotion of the associated culture within a Catholic school
• Assist on the school's crisis response team
• Establish meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interact with the school community to ensure the enforcement of city and state law
• Conduct patrols of campus, facilities, restrooms and campus perimeter.
• Inspect outside doors for security and functionality.
• Provide emergency assistance during natural or manmade emergencies, fires, accidents, and personal injuries.
• Orally communicate campus regulations and school policies to members of the school community and others on campus.
• Work collaboratively with public safety agencies to serve as a liaison between school and community to deter criminal and delinquent behavior.
• Work collaboratively with first responders, school employees, supervisor, and guests.
• Meet and maintain all standards and requirements for physical agility, strength and conditioning, and firearms, as required.
• Operate security equipment including two-way radio and video systems.
• Diffuse situations where necessary and respond appropriately when force is needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training Firearm qualified
• Oklahoma Driver’s License Class D
• CLEET certified with a Basic or Advanced School Resource Officer certification preferred.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• High School Degree or GED, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Prior law enforcement or school security experience
• Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
• Good computer skills with the ability to use various computer applications such as calendar, e-mail, and database software.
• Ability to think logically and act quickly, often under tense, uncertain, or emergency situations, and render sound decisions in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
• Effectively use and maintain proficiency with security tools and weapons to include firearms, OC spray, defensive tactics and other safety equipment.
• Control violent individuals.
• Administer first aid.
• Meet and maintain required security and firearm qualification standards.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
