Underwriting Associate opportunity

The Underwriting Associate will play a key role in supporting the underwriting and valuation processes for infrastructure real estate investments. This individual will leverage their analytical skills to assess financial performance, model investment opportunities, and contribute to the overall decision-making process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or real estate, along with experience in underwriting, valuation, or financial analysis, and be proficient in Excel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the underwriting and evaluation of infrastructure real estate investment opportunities, including acquisition, financing, and development projects.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment analysis and decision-making.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and key performance metrics to assess asset performance and risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive investment memos, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Perform due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including market research, financial analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Support the development of valuation models and analysis using various approaches, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable sales, and cap rate methodologies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure all underwriting processes and documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Monitor the performance of existing assets, conducting periodic reviews and updating financial models as needed.
  • Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting infrastructure real estate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in underwriting, real estate finance, or accounting (experience in infrastructure real estate is a plus).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build and manipulate complex financial models.
  • Experience with financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and valuation techniques.
  • Solid understanding of real estate investment concepts, including risk assessment, returns analysis, and asset performance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with real estate investment platforms and financial modeling software (e.g., Argus, CoStar).
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-focused real estate markets and investment strategies.
  • Strong interest in the infrastructure sector and real estate investment trends.

***This position requires in office attendance Monday – Thursday, Friday’s are WFH***
