Cumbria Mesh Network — Powered by Meshcore
In October 2025, I converted all my Meshtastic nodes over to Meshcore, and the difference was instant. With Meshtastic, I wasn’t getting much RF activity — but as soon as I switched my hardware to Meshcore, boom! — the network came alive with strong, reliable signals.
A big part of that success is thanks to Steve from Meshcore Cumbria, who’s been busy setting up high-altitude Meshcore repeaters across the region. His dedication to building a dependable, long-range LoRa mesh network in Cumbria has created a solid foundation for community connectivity.
Since meeting Steve, we’ve been expanding the network he started — adding new Meshcore nodes, improving coverage, and getting more local ham radio operators and tech enthusiasts involved in strengthening the Meshcore Cumbria Network.
One of the best things about Meshcore is that it’s licence-free on the 868 MHz ISM band, so anyone can join in the fun! You don’t need a radio licence to participate — just grab compatible hardware, flash it with Meshcore, and start exploring your own part of the mesh.
