Icom Terminal Mode

G3 Terminal Mode on URF921. Gateway urf001.cumbriacq.com — leave TO / UR at /URF921A for the Cumbria CQ Network.

Icom Terminal Mode now supported via URFD 921A Reflector

G3 Terminal Mode is on CumbriaCQ reflector URF921.

Use these three values. Pad the Terminal callsign with spaces so it is exactly 8 characters, with T in the last place.

Gateway:  urf001.cumbriacq.com
TO / UR:  /URF921A
Callsign: M5LEE  T     (5-letter call = two spaces then T)
          M0ABC  T
          G4ABC  T
          MM0ABC T     (6-letter call = one space then T)

/URF921A is Module A — the Cumbria CQ Network. Leave TO / UR on that. Do not use /URD921A.

IC-9700 (ethernet on the radio)

  1. Plug the 9700 into the LAN. Confirm it has an IP under MENU → Set → Network.
  2. MENU → DV GW → Internal Gateway Settings
  3. Gateway Repeater (Server IP/Domain): urf001.cumbriacq.com
  4. Terminal/AP Call Sign: your call, spaces, then T in the 8th character. This must not be the same as MY Call Sign.
  5. Gateway Type: Global. UDP Hole Punch: ON.
  6. MENU → DV GW → <<Terminal Mode>>
  7. In DR, TO → Direct Input (UR) → /URF921A

Back to RF: MENU → DV GW → <<Normal Mode>>.

ID-52 / ID-52 Plus / ID-50

These do not have a built-in ethernet jack. Terminal Mode goes through Icom’s app, then the radio is put into Terminal Mode.

  • ID-52 / ID-50: USB cable + RS-MS3A (Android) or RS-MS3W (Windows).
  • ID-52 Plus: Bluetooth to RS-MS3A / RS-MS3I, or USB to RS-MS3W.
  1. In the app: Gateway Repeater (Server IP/Domain) = urf001.cumbriacq.com
  2. Terminal/AP Call Sign = 8 characters ending T (same padding as above)
  3. UDP Hole Punch ON, then Start
  4. On the radio: MENU → DV Gateway → <<Terminal Mode>>
  5. TO / UR: Direct Input → /URF921A
